Hardcore Homos

My dear friend Manny brought over a CD yesterday that he purchased by a band called Black Fag. The name pretty much sums up what it is - a Black Flag tribute band with a homosexual touch. From the moment it started playing, I fell in (anal) love. Consisting of members Liberace Morris, Greg Streisand, Cher Dykeowski, and Robo Simmons... it's a genius idea I wish I had thought up. The covers are hilarious, and singer Liberace sounds like Fred Schneider (B-52s), while at other times he channels Gordon Gano (Violent Femmes).

No Values

In my discovery of this "hardcore homo" world, I also found Gayrilla Biscuits in the friend circle of Black Fag. They also do homocore covers of bands such as Minor Threat, Sick of it All, and of course Gorilla Biscuits. The quality of these tracks isn't as good as the ones above, but of course I could only get my hands on a couple of demo songs. Still hilarious to hear.

Black Fag is lead by Jeff Penalty (myspace), the newish singer for Dead Kennedys. At one time members of Bang Sugar Bang were playing along but I don't think that is true anymore.

I THOUGHT he sounded a little Biafra'ish. Thanks for the info!

son of a bitch. great concept.
I'm more keen to Antony and the Johnsons though.
Nonetheless, I doubt Black Fag dresses like women
